Putting Pen to Paper

There is nothing more satisfying than actually putting pen to paper,
as much as I love to type my manuscripts, poetry is done the old fashioned way.
Sitting in my chair by the fire place, glass of red wine on the little table placed in perfect reach. The flame from the fire dancing provocatively behind the glass. My journal on my lap, pen in my hand, I begin.
Letting the pen glide at will, no rules to follow, no structure required, I could spell every word wrong if I wish. All that matters is not stopping the creative magic.

Honey, Honey, Honey

HONEY HONEY HONEY
will you please help me I'd plea
but instead you would just turn up the TV
I have tried being nice and asking you kindly
alas you continue to turn your head blindly
so let me put this in such a way that is clear
the first package I send you will be a rear view mirror
for so long now I have begged and I’ve pleaded
oh your car won't stop mm could a brake pad be needed?
that will come soon in package number two
along with a bracket I had to unscrew
it was on very tight so I had to use pliers
but the kids all had fun swinging in the tiers
no need to fret package three will come later
with the left over pieces of the once shinny radiator
for so very long you didn't help me out
now you will know what frustration about
the car that you loved so much more than me
will not look so pretty in boxes you see
all the work, sweat, and love you gave that car
the paint didn't even stand up to my thick metal bar
I hit it not once but three times or four
well just enough to cave in the driver’s side door
now I understand you are dying inside
but you could still take the rims for a ride
one is still round and looks pretty good
the other three bent when they smashed through the hood
when the next package arrives you'll be surprised I'm sure
how that tiny box can hold your cars door
I bet now your wishing you had done more through the years
if not yet you might when you get the box with the gears
all I asked for was just a little bit of help
what’s in the next box you ask why that’s a seat belt
you are mad I know I expected you'd be
but honey you’re not even half as mad as me
I have taken your crap now for way, way too long
did you know your car was really quite strong
the hammer I was using snapped just like that
I had to go get the kids baseball bat
I was getting real tired and needed a rest
so may have to wait a while for the rest
SO keep watching the mail it will all come you'll see
but don't bother nagging I'll just turn up the TV!
